FACIALS IN LONDON
FACIALS-6552.jpg

If you meet me in person, you’ll realise just how much of a skin fanatic I am. For me, good skin isn’t about vanity; it’s about confidence, because when you feel good in your skin it shows through. At home skincare is obviously super important to achieving/maintaining good skin and I plan on covering a lot more on the blog as there’s so much confusion out there (I think) about what you should be putting on your face, for what reason and when.

If you follow me on instagram and watch my stories, you’ll know that I have regularly go for facials - twice a month maybe. An indulgent treat for sure but also facials are given by professionals who really know skin and can advise on what your skin really needs. The therapists that really know their stuff and the facials that work their magic are invaluable as you can see results from one facial alone. I often get asked which is the best facial I’ve had and it’s difficult in some ways to say (though I do have a favourite or two from the list below) as not all facials are the same or intend to give the same result. One that offers a peel isn’t comparable to one that offers lymphatic drainage for example as the goals they set out to achieve are completely different. I always say it depends what you’re after from a facial as to which facial you should go for.

I’ve rounded up a list of the best facials in London I’ve tried so far (full disclosure - these are gifted). I’ll keep adding to this post as and when I experience a new one I think is really worth talking about. As you'll see, I do feature multiple facials from one brand because each facial is different in their aim, so I’m treating each facial individually rather than regarding all facials by an individual brand as one.

If the purse strings allow it, I’d recommend having a facial a month but if that’s not possible then try bi-monthly if you can in order to see real visible results. It’s true that a lot of facials require a number of visits especially if you’re trying to reverse damage that’s deep within the skin but it is possible and you just need to decide how you’d like to invest your money. For me, my skin is a lifelong investment and doing all that I can now will help it for years to come.

Bespoke Facial at John Bell & Croyden

Why you need it:

Because Maria, your therapist is amazing. She really knows skin and will tailor the facial to whatever your skin is needing (which is determined by a skin consultation with her beforehand). Whether you’re wanting a really deep cleanse with extraction or a glycolic peel, Maria can do it. What your facial requires determines the brand of skincare which is used. At John Bell & Croyden they use Skinceuticals, Natura Bisse, Vitage, Pai, Oskia and Dermalogica so you’ll definitely find the right fit for your skin. And regardless of which brand is used, the price stays the same.

the process:

I opted for a thorough cleanse and a glycolic peel which Maria left on my skin for 5 minutes (she recommended a gentle strength peel for our first time as she wanted to see how my skin reacted). Next she applied a mask which helped cool and calm my skin as well as some gentle pressure point massage (it’s not good to stretch the skin too much after a peel) which was incredibly relaxing, putting me in the perfect state of awake yet snoozy (the true sign of relaxation). My treatment was finished with a concoction of Skinceuticals products along with SPF.

the results:

Glowing, smoother skin immediately. My face was baby soft to touch and clearer the next day.

MORE INFO:

It’s £60 for 30 mins (with 50% redeemable against anything bought in store) or £100 for an hour (with 50% redeemable against anything bought in store) which I think is brilliant. If you’ve never been to John Bell & Croyden, then Oh My, you’re in for a treat.

the process:

Su-Man begins by prepping the skin, making sure it’s thoroughly cleansed whilst being gently steamed in preparation for extractions. Yes, a little on the painful side but nothing too horrendous and it’s over before you know it. Next, to help calm and soothe the skin, Su-Man begins with her incredible Gua Sha technique that uses strokes and pressure to drain the face of toxins, wake up your muscles and boost circulation. The last step is a face mask filled with vitamins to really help nourish and feed the skin. Finished off with serum and moisturiser - skin is transformed.

the results:

Youth! Skin is remarkably toned, firmed and younger looking. There’s a reason it’s called the face lift facial.

MORE INFO:

It’s £220 for 60 minutes. Yes that’s rather pricey but if you’re getting married or have a special event ahead, then book in with Su-Man. I’d go as far as saying have two (at least - more if you can afford) in the run-up. One with extractions and one nearer the day without. Your skin will look, feel and be amazing.

Whilst all this is going on, you’re treated to a relaxing hand and arm massage. The next part of your treatment is the best and you won’t want this to ever end: a classic Hungarian facial massage, which helps boost and plump the skin. So heavenly, if I could have someone do this to my face for an hour solid then I’d be a very happy girl. Finished with serum, eye cream and moisturiser all from the brand’s heavenly range.
