It seems now more than ever that people have the travel bug, especially those in my age bracket. The need to explore, to experience and to stay in a beautiful location is stronger than ever and I’ve noticed a growing trend of people wanting to travel to celebrate a special occasion - whether that’s a milestone birthday or a wedding. A cause for a big celebration deserves something special, something grand. So should that be you’re looking for, whether you’re planning a large family getaway or a special birthday with friends, I have one name for you.
The Villa Collective offers you a collection of private luxury villas around Europe and Morocco in some of the most beautiful settings and locations. If you’re wanting a stay in a place to remember, The Villa Collective is where you need to begin.
Towards the end of last year, I was invited by The Villa Collective on a special press trip, joining a group of journalists as the honorary ‘influencer’ of the trip (please note I can’t say the word ‘influencer’ without shuddering, but for these purposes, it’s the best way to describe in what capacity I was there as).
The trip was to spend a couple of nights in a private villa in Corfu getting to experience firsthand what it would be like to stay at one of the Villa Collective’s properties.
As I wasn’t booking the trip, I missed out on the first step of the process with The Villa Collective which was speaking with the villa specialists who are on hand to help you at every step. You tell them your villa wish list - your absolute holiday ‘must-haves’ - and they’ll do the work to find you the best one that ticks all your boxes. A blessing when you see how many incredible properties they have in their portfolio!
For our trip, enter Villa Apasa (you can have a nosey at it here if you like): a private haven built into the cliffside of Nissaki and a 45 minute drive from the airport. From the sea, it looks like it belongs in a James Bond movie and the inside is just as ridiculously amazing.
The very definition of luxury with six bedrooms, infinity pools, an outdoor lift taking you directly to the sea and its own private team of staff. The ultimate celebration house location which comes with a rather large rental cost (or if you’d prefer to buy it, it was on the market at €15m a few months ago!).
Villa Apasa is a glorious example of how luxury The Villa Collective is but don’t be put off if you’re wanting something a bit more purse-friendly as TVC has villas all over that suit a much more reasonable budget.
As always, I took far too many photos on this short trip and it certainly looks like an ad for Villa Apasa, but when the property is this amazing, how could you blame me for getting trigger happy?
If these photos don’t get you in the mood to book a villa somewhere with friends/family, then I don’t know what will!
Whilst a lot of the time was spent at the villa (how could we not make the most of it?), dipping our toes in all pools available (and having a swim in the sea), we did get out just a little to explore Corfu which really is a stunning part of Greece - I would really recommend giving the island some of your time when you’re next planning a sunshine escape.
The old town is charming and quaint, with people pouring onto the street at night for dinner and all around the coast you can stop off for sunbathing spots and long lazy lunches in the sun. It really was quite an idyllic trip I wish I could have all over again now.
Our last supper in the villa was spent by the infinity pool, watching the sun go down and enjoying dinner by candle light. It was pure magic that I felt very lucky to be part of (on a separate note: the company too was beyond lovely and it’s trips like this that make my “work” a pleasure). Our food was prepared by the villa’s amazing team and it was an utterly delicious end to the trip.
Thank you to The Villa Collective for an amazing time in Corfu (you’ve got me wanting to return to explore more of this beautiful island!) and for a truly spoiling stay. I can’t recommend a mooch around The Villa Collective website enough to see the amazing properties that you could find yourself in in no time.
