Let’s face it: the festive season was not the healthiest. No wonder everyone resorts to cleaning up their lifestyle in the new year - we’ve ruined it so much from November onwards!

If there’s anything I can do to show my body a little bit of love, well, I’m prepared to do it. And so, pre-festive season madness, I attended a special breakfast in Clerkenwell with hostess with the mostest, Madeleine Shaw, to discover Light & Free’s newest stars of the show.

Kefir is a word I’ve heard thrown around before but it’s not something I’ve really ever delved into to discover further. Until this breakfast that is.

The morning began with an introduction to kefir (for those not in the know: kefir is a cultured, fermented milk drink - similar to yogurt but with a tarter and a less sweet taste), a quick overview of how it’s made before we got to sample some of the range for ourselves (as well as enjoying a tasty breakfast spread too!). We got to pick from the range’s three flavours: Plain; Cucumber & Lime; and Pomegranate & Blueberry. I sampled the Cucumber & Lime variety and was pleasantly surprised. I honestly was expecting something altogether a lot more tart tasting and sour - this was easily drinkable!

Ideal for the on-the-go’ers, mid-afternoon slumpers in need of a pick-me-up and those who don’t always have the time to make a breakfast smoothie in the morning. Light & Free’s Kefir drink can also be drizzled on breakfast. So next time you want to jazz up your granola or your shakshuka, think about doing a bit of good for you!
