WOLF, Stoke Newington

Once upon a time, I was a devout South Londoner. Five years ago, I probably wouldn't even have ventured North for a weekend jaunt however present day Claire is something altogether quite different.

Heck, I even live in North East London now! And honestly, there is so much in the areas close by to me that I can't wait to explore each and every one of them with a fine toothed comb.

One of the nearby "hoods" is Stoke Newington, which if you've never visited, I really recommend you do. There's oodles to explore from cafes to parks to indie shops and florists. It's veering on middle class heaven but still with a touch of proper London grit.

Food-wise, you're actually quite spoilt for choice but today I'm here to tell you about one rather fantastic place in particular and that is WOLF on Stokey's High Street, a seasonal Italian restaurante and bar.

One Saturday a few Saturdays ago, Rosie and I visited WOLF to try out their new brunch menu. Floored by their interiors immediately, I didn't know where to start. Picked to perfection floor tiles, a bloomin' fantastic plant wall, marble table tops, snazzy lighting, these guys knew what they were doing when they designed this place. Now I know it's not all about the interiors (though it sways me towards a place every time) so let's get a-talkin' about the brunch.

The new menu - not overly large in size - was split into Bread, Fruits & Cereals; Eggs; Plates (available from 2pm, so dammit, we'll have to come back for those) and then Sides. We greedy piglets ordered a tasty trio of dishes and shared the lot - I'd highly recommend you do the same. Our picks were the Oat & Nut Granola with cherries & yogurt (because: the healthy one), Spiced Beans with baked eggs, buffalo ricotta fresca, basil & grilled piadina (because: beans are good for you) and the Fennel Sausage with a deep fried egg, flat gnocchi & caramelised tropea onions (because: well, it sounded bloody amazing). Drinks on offer were Bottomless and included a delicious WOLF Bellini (peach puree & Prosecco) and a refreshing Arancio e Basilico Spritz (blood orange puree, Wolf's basil gin, soda & prosecco). The perfect morning tonics.

You'll find WOLF at 110 Stoke Newington High St. Promise you'll give them a visit? And let me know when you go - I'll hop on the bus and join you!
